House Bill 74 Passed in the House – onto the Senate

After nearly reaching the three hour limit for debate on the House floor this afternoon, House Bill 74 passed. The bill sponsor Representative Gail Chasey handily responded to questions about public safety, recidivism, and sentencing law, and rebuffed an amendment to exclude some people from their constitutional rights.

The bill will now be assigned to two Senate committees and must pass through both before reaching the Senate floor and finally the Governor’s desk.
